Many things have changed in the half-century since Mr. King’s novel was published, yet Carrie White remains a strikingly relevant and highly relatable figure. “Not really, not at the subconscious level where savage things grow.” I was hooked. What did Mr. King mean by “savage things?” I didn’t realize then that I would spend so much of my adult life thinking about this very question.

CNN —This annual list of 25 influential films to be inducted into the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress has been revealed. “Films have become absolutely central to American culture by helping tell our national story for more than 125 years. We are proud to add 25 more films by a group of vibrant and diverse filmmakers to the National Film Registry as we preserve our cinematic heritage,” Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden said in a statement.
